What mock papers won’t do
The Selective Check and the Top Set are not a diagnostic — they are mock tests that mimic the real exam. They ask forty questions across twenty topics, once each, and tell you where your child stands. They cannot tell you why a mark went, because naming a mistake means asking the same mistake more than once, and there is no room for that in a paper of this size.
That is what an 11+ Diagnostic pack is for. One topic, every mistake asked more than once, so wrong every time is a gap and right-then-rushed is only carelessness.
And if the first paper goes badly, we will tell you to stop. More papers at a level your child is not ready for will not help them, whatever it does for us. The result will point you at the foundation topics instead, where the worksheets are built for exactly that — and a mock will still be here when they are ready for one.
Reading the result
As a rough guide, around 30 out of 40 is a strong score. We do not publish a pass mark, because the real exams standardise their scores for age and for how that year’s cohort did — so nobody can honestly tell you the number you need.
